Windows 7 is the brand new OS from the software powerhouse Microsoft. This ne version preceads the old OS Vista and more popular XP. The new version resolves the old problem with vista of security that was a major pain. Everything this has been redone and new features added (ie: word, excel etc). Not to mention it uses A LOT less memory on your computer and CPU which translates into a fast OS. All in all Windows 7 is what vista was supposed to be.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year they will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because they’re already talking to partners about the project, and they’ll soon be working with the open source community, they want to share the vision now so everyone understands what they are trying to achieve.

Google StechUp is a kind of CAD software that is free for download from Google. It is basically a toned down version of a drafting software but directed at the masses for more simple use. In theory, it cold be used to make real buildings but doesn’t have the persice measurment.

Google Latitude is a  program/app that one puts on their cell or blackberry and it track them where ever they go. Kinda like an RFID tag but more of a homing beacon to show friends where you are. It also lets  you pu like a widget kinda thing on a public networking site such as Facebook. This is a pretty cool thing if you want it, but some are thinking puting this on there kid’s phones without them knowing. I think this is an invation of privacy.

I find that the problem with this app/program is that it is an invation of personal privacy. If you are willing to have it then go right ahead and more power to ya’.  But if you want it just to show your friends where you are, and you start gettting people that you dont know following you because it is a public thing to view then that can be bad. Since it is public someone who doesnt like you for some reason could start stalking you and really freak you out.

Another reason this is bad is you know the little side bars on some websites like Facebook that say whatever, the reason its there is that you or something you comented on found out something and now starts to advertise those things. The problem with the Google Latitude is that you could just walk by a store and all of a sudden start getting their advertising. Now that could be very annoying especially if it is something that you really dont want to see for onr reason or another.

One thing that this app could be used for is literally spying on someone. Say you work for a company that uses this app and they want to see where you go at lunch. Now most companies give you say an hour for lunch. Now luch is used loosly. You can do whatever you want but aslong as your back intime to start work again. Now this is like your own private time to your self and anyone you want to know what you’re doing. If a company is looking at what your doing all the time that could start to be an invation of your own personal privacy. Basically what I’m saying is that whatever you do on your time is to your knowledge and your knowledge only.

In 2008, there were many things that had an impact on the “tech” world. There will be two I will be talking about. They are: LittleBigPlanet, and the DualShock 3 controller.

LittleBigPlanet was a little kind of “kids game” that didn’t have a lot of publicity before it was released. It was a fun based game that is very simple to play and to create levels of your own. You could play them with your friends or publish them so other people around the world could play them. By the timme it was released it was around like a small, not very popular game. Once it was released, it started to pick up speed in the sales market and became a game that will be rememberd as a “PLAYSTATION EXCLUSIVE.”

Next is the DualShock3 controller. Thisis the ability to sense both rotational orientation and translational acceleration along all three dimensional axes, providing six degrees of freedom. This in turn make flying game and any gamer that requires some sort of additional movment, but without the use of the analog sticks or in additon to them.

The game that i think that will affect the tech world in 2009 will be GT5. But mor commonly known as GRAN TURISMO 5. Not the prologue, but the actual game itself. In an April 2008 interview, Kazunori Yamauchi(the designer of the game) revealed that 150 people had worked on Gran Turismo 5 for four years, with all of Polyphony Digital’s 120 employees working on GT5, and the game costing 50 times more to develop than 1997’s Gran Turismo. The amount of detail that goes into the cars is astonishing. To digitize one real car, it take GB’s of pictures taken with cameras,days to get the info back, and then 180 days to render the car. 180 DAYS!!! Thats a lot considering that there is rumoured to be over 1000 cars total ranging from the Ferrari F1 2007 car to the Dihatsu Midget. So a huge aray of cars that are all  able you to proformance modify them. And not to mention the “fifthsequal” to the racing……(racing simulator)(it actually says that during th opening credits) ”monarchy” that is Gran Turismo. GT FTW.

First when you type in a address it goes to your router, then get sent to a DNS server or IP adress  then to the World Wide Web(www) then to the sites server. then when the connection gets there, it sends a signal back the way it came (www- DNS/IP- Router-PC)

A word size is a certain amount of binary numbers that works on the base 16 using number 10=a 11=b 12=c 13=d 14=e 15=f. These get sent to a place that reads them. Example: a hard drive sends a set of word sizes  to a CPU and then gets directed elsewhere. But the letters can be converted into binary. For example the letters a,c can be converted into 10,12. Then into binary 00001010,00001100. That is two letters in binary.

For converting hexadecimal in base 10 you

To use binary u must know that it works on “base two” which is 1’s and 0’s. “Base Ten” is 0-9 which we use every day.

Binary work on 2 and an exponant eg: 2^1, 2^4 etc. Also binary works from right to left instead of our regular left to right that we read with.

One 2 then an exponant is a bit. The table above is 8 bits or 1 byte. 1024 bytes are 1 kilo byte.

Now that you know how to go from base 2 to base 10, we now need to know how to reverse it. It’s actually quite simple. You just try base 2 until it equals the base 10 number. ie: Trial and error.

President-Elect Barack Obama used many technologies to win and advertize his campagin. One of these is Facebook. Unlike his opponants, he used Facebook to unlock the youth market for the first time in any election. His campagin sent out daily messages to get the message out and add motavation for people to vote for the first time.

After that he used Twitter. Twitter is like the status thing on Facebook so he just added that kind of  stuff. By using Twitter, some 120,000 voters got regular updates on where Obama was and were regularly provided links to watch rallies being streamed live over the Internet. Which would be very useful for serious supporters.

Next, he used Youtube. Youtube is a website that users can upload videos and anyone on the internet can watch them. As long as there is no lag. AHHHHHHH.Thanks to YouTube, all of Obama’s major events from the campaign can be seen. Obama’s big speech on race has been viewed more than 5 million times on the site, which is more than the combined cable news audience who watched it. Also, a music video putting an Obama speech to music has had more than 11 million views.

Also, Obama used mobile texting to support his campaign. Rather than having to look at a computer all the time, people could get instant updates strait to their phones. Which is useful for people who don’t have time to sit down and look up updates.

Lastly, he personaly used a blackberry. It is basicly a mini computer on a little phone with a keyboard. It does the same thing as a computer that You are looking at.
